Get viral with these marketing tactics from Prime

Muslims Get Ahead In Just 5 Minutes
Read time: < 5 minutes
Assalaam o alaikum!
So over the weekend I’ve been experimenting with some marketing hacks. Mainly YouTube shorts. I’m trying to find social media channels which give you the most reach when you have no subscribers or followers.
The results? I’ll save that for later this week 🙃
For now check out this quench-thirsting opportunity I have for you 👇
THE BIG IDEA

The Viral Marketing Power of Influencers 🤳
Friends, I recently came across a fascinating article detailing the meteoric rise of Prime, the trendy new sports drink that's become all the rage among teens and young adults. The brand's spectacular growth in just over a year offers some great lessons for aspiring entrepreneurs like us. There's a lot we can learn from Prime's viral marketing success.
The first key takeaway is that Prime gained its foothold in the market without a massive marketing budget. Rather than splurging on expensive traditional advertising, Prime relied on leveraging the gigantic social media followings of YouTube stars Logan Paul and KSI. These internet celebrities essentially served as Prime's marketing team, actively promoting the drink brand to their millions of loyal, engaged followers.
This demonstrates the incredible power of influencer marketing! Connecting with relevant influencers who already have strong relationships with your target demographic can be far more effective than throwing large sums of money at traditional ads and hoping for the best. Identifying the right influencers allows you to tap directly into an existing audience that knows, likes, and trusts them.
In Prime's case, they couldn't have chosen better influencers. Paul and KSI's devoted, youthful social media fans matched up perfectly with the market Prime was targeting. The duo brought built-in name recognition and credibility with the 13-30 age range. This allowed Prime to gain quick traction among young drink consumers.
In addition to dedicated promotional posts, Paul and KSI have helped Prime go viral through attention-grabbing stunts, pushing online memes, and more. They've fully embraced their brand ambassador roles. This authentic passion and active engagement helps the influencer marketing seem less forced or transactional.
Beyond just hiring big name influencers, Prime has also benefited from seizing the right moment. The sports hydration drink category had grown stale, with Gatorade dominating for ages. Prime came along at the perfect time, identifying an underserved market desperate for something new and exciting.
Prime differentiated itself by catering specifically to younger consumers seeking healthier, unique options beyond the sugary mainstream brands. The company recognized a gap in the industry and expertly positioned itself to fill this void. Prime's good timing also allowed it to gain significant market share before large corporations could react.
On top of expert influencer leveraging and strategic market entry, Prime continues fueling its hype machine by employing scarcity and FOMO (fear of missing out) marketing tactics. The brand keeps supplies limited, stoking demand. Prime constantly introduces new flavors, discontinues others, and offers exclusive promotional bottles.
This gets customers scrambling to try every new release for fear of not being able to later. It also increases collectability, with some customers hoarding rare Prime editions to resell. The brand keeps fans engaged online, discussing the latest drops and hunting down specific bottles.
Prime promotes a sense of community and identity around the brand. Being "in the know" about new Prime products and news is seen as cool and exciting. The company has essentially gamified the product launches, knowing scarcity and exclusivity breeds obsession.
Overall, Prime has achieved a remarkable degree of viral success because it checks all the right boxes:
Influencer marketing provides built-in audience exposure
Identifying an industry gap and filling a niche builds loyal brand advocates
Engaging target customers online fuels word-of-mouth
Driving interest through limited edition releases sustains hype
Continual new product rollout retains customer attention
So what key lessons can aspiring business owners take from Prime's growth story? Here are some tips:
Seek out relevant influencers with engaged followings who align with your brand values. Micro-influencers are often very accessible and affordable.
Closely analyze your industry to pinpoint underserved segments and consumer needs you can meet. Find that sweet spot.
Build an active social media presence and foster a community around your brand. Crowdsource ideas, gather feedback, etc.
Create desirable exclusives and promotions to generate buzz. Give early access to influencers.
Continuously innovate and improve upon products/services. Solve evolving consumer problems.
Develop a lifestyle brand that becomes part of customers' identities, not just a transactional experience.
The big takeaway is that with the right blend of influencer marketing, strategic positioning, online engagement, innovating, and scarcity/exclusivity tactics, you too can achieve viral success and rapid growth. Learn from Prime's stellar example. Trust in your vision. And go make some waves as an entrepreneur! The time is now.
The Opportunity 🌙
When you think Ramadan, which drinks 🥤 spring to mind? Rooh afza? Coconut water? Home made date milkshakes?
What do the kids like? This could be a perfect opportunity to employ similar but halal tactics that Prime did, to market a drink for young muslims which either keep them hydrated through the day as a Pre-fast drink, or to create one for when they open their fast. Post-fast. If you get the branding right.. you could even create both!
With next Ramadan over 6 months away.. this might give someone enough time.
And don’t worry you don’t need to get really big influencers. Micro-influencers will also work.. find all those young Muslims on social media and YouTube with a following of around 10,000. Get enough of those and it’ll be game on. 🎯
What would I call it: Battle (Battle the Shaytan through your fast)
P.S. If you do it, you owe me a free one.
P.S.S. Actually give me a crate.

Midjourney prompt: a business man from the year 868 CE in Egypt, from behind angle
Entrepreneur turned Ruler 👑
Ahmad ibn Tulun was an influential leader and entrepreneur in Egypt during the 9th century CE. He was the founder of the Tulunid dynasty that ruled Egypt and Syria between 868 and 905 CE.
Ibn Tulun was born in Baghdad in 835 CE to a Turkic father and Greek mother. As a young man, he was sent to Egypt as a tax collector for the Abbasid caliphate. Ibn Tulun exhibited great talent and ambition in this role. Over time, he was able to build an independent power base in Egypt by recruiting his own private army composed mostly of Turks and Greeks.
In 868 CE, ibn Tulun declared himself the governor of Egypt and established the Tulunid dynasty. He focused on expanding agriculture, trade, and industry in the region. One of his major projects was developing a new capital city called Al-Qata’i, with its centerpiece being the mosque of Ibn Tulun. This mosque was an architectural wonder, showcasing innovative structural features like the pointed arch that later influenced European Gothic style.
Ibn Tulun also invested heavily in revitalizing Egypt’s textile industry, establishing hundreds of weaving and dyeing factories. Linen production boomed, and Egyptian textiles were soon exported widely across the Mediterranean markets. As a shrewd entrepreneur, ibn Tulun used his textile monopolies and tax revenues to make Egypt highly prosperous. At its peak, the Tulunid dynasty controlled territory encompassing Egypt, Syria, and parts of the Holy Lands.
As one of the most autonomous and influential rulers of medieval Islamic Egypt, Ahmad ibn Tulun re-established Egypt’s political and economic power through entrepreneurial leadership, architectural innovations, and promotion of agriculture and industry. His three decades of rule presided over a “golden age” of progress and prestige for Egypt. Ibn Tulun's business acumen, organization, and bold self-determination made him an iconic Muslim entrepreneur of the 9th century.
My take: While Ibn Tulun recruited his own army to establish a dynasty, you could do the same with social media followers! 😂 Stay tuned because I think I’m on to something with this YouTube Shorts thing.
