Threads - The fastest growing app of all time

That new kid on the block with rich parents

Muslims Get Ahead In Just 5 Minutes

Read time: < 5 minutes

Assalaam o alaikum!

That new kid on the block with rich parents. Half the children are excited to be his friend, the other half skeptical because of his parents. Those who spoke to him, however, saw an empty soul and no connection.

Too soon to judge? It takes time to form a bond.

THE BIG IDEA

📈 It’s the fastest growing app of all time

That kid is called Threads. I tried it and so did 100 million.

100 MILLION!!! Which will make it the fastest growing app in history. Faster than ChatGPT, TikTok and Instagram.

Not bad for a cloned child. 🧪

The origin story

Blame Elon.

After taking the wheel at Twitter, he’s driven it straight off-road onto the rocky tracks with most of the bolts and screws falling off at every turn. With Twitter on the rocks, everyone’s been trying to copy it from Mastodon with their ActivityPub protocol to former Twitter co-founder & CEO Jack Dorsey with Bluesky.

Who did they forget about?

🥋Master copier Brazilian ji-jitsu white-belt Mark “Stings like a bee” Zuckerberg 🖨️🐱

He copied stories from Snapchat, then reels from TikTok and now he’s sewn Twitter and called it Threads. What a guy!

🚨Major lesson alert: Copying works! Ngl it might sound bad, but as long as it’s legal it’s fine. I mean look at all those burger shops opening up in your town. If people like something, make more of it and give it your own sauce.

How it works

So what’s Mark’s twist with Threads?

Apart from being a 100% copy and basically looking the same… It has nearly double the character limit of the free Twitter, 500 versus 280. Although Twitter Blue subscribers get a lot more at 10,000 characters.

On Twitter you have multiple feeds, whereas Threads only has one. That one feed contains posts from people you follow and recommended posts. And here lies the main problem most users are complaining about.

But before I get into that, a quick Privacy overview:

Privacy

ALL your data is being collected by Facebook, I mean Meta.

No shame. 😂😂😂

What people think about it

So driving through “the heart of the Internet” (Reddit), as you do on a Sunday night looking for things to write for Monday’s newsletter, I noticed one main theme: People complaining that their feeds are full of celebrities and “people full of themselves” rather than accounts they are following. That’s because there’s only one feed atm, and most likely the few accounts that users have followed.. have probably not posted a lot yet. So they’re just seeing random garbage that gets a lot of hits (celebrity posts).

This Redditor sums it up:

What does Elon think about it?

He is suing them.

The opportunity

Ok so lots of fuss, people complaining, billionaires fighting but the big idea in my mind is the headline FASTEST GROWING APP OF ALL TIME with 100 million users in just 5 days of launch.

👀 That’s a lot of eyeballs.

If you have a business, start posting stuff because your competitors are probably sleeping on this. Which means you’re more likely to be seen. If you’re an influencer, same thing applies, and you can use this opportunity to become the garbage that people see by posting attention grabbing content such as funny BUT HALAL videos.

“but I’m still a slave of the corporate world 😭”

Sad Reader

In that case.. using all the info I’ve just given you, you could start a side-hustle: the first Threads Marketing Agency. Convince businesses by telling them their competitors are not active on it yet and that this is a huge opportunity for first movers.

Either way, this is a new platform with huge potential. A lot of people are still on the fence but this has the backing of Instagram while Elon’s Twitter is leaking oil.

Get on it and try it if you haven’t already and if you decide it’s not for you then fine.

I’ll be keeping an eye on it, and as soon as I have credible information that this new platform is working and it’s great for marketing I’ll let you know!

ISLAM

“Why did no one else in history at the time of Prophet Muhammad (AS) report sightings of the moon splitting in half? Wouldn't everyone from other nations see the moon splitting in half and spread the news everywhere?”

QURANLE 252

فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ نَاقَةَ ٱللَّهِ وَسُقْيَـٰهَا

But the messenger of Allah warned them, “˹Do not disturb˺ Allah’s camel and her ˹turn to˺ drink!”
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
